An intelligent haunting is where a human spirit is aware of us, and able to communicate. This is what most people tend to think of when they think “ghost”.

Think of a residual haunting as a tape recording. These are imprints in time, usually from repetition or tragedy. An example of a residual haunting would be hearing footsteps coming up your stairs every night at midnight. With this type of haunting there are no actual entities present, so there is nothing there to harm you. 

Thanks to Hollywood, most people have a misconception for what a poltergeist is. Poltergeist are energy created by a human “agent”, not a separate entity. The agent is commonly a child going through puberty, but this is not always the case. It is common for the agent to have emotional issues they are repressing, have psychic abilities & neurological disorders. The best course of action to remove a poltergeist is for the agent to see a therapist to deal with the repressed emotions and to participate in activities like yoga or tai chi.  

Important to note is that the term “poltergeist activity” is commonly used to describe the movement or manipulation of objects, these are two distinctly different phenomena.

Elementals are in essence, nature spirits. These entities are ancient & are typically protectors of different elements. They are neither inherently good or evil, but they will protect their homes. 

These are exactly what they sound like, spirits that were never human but that positive in nature. Angels or other similar beings fall into this category.

These type of entries where never human and have malicious intent towards humans. Commonly called “demons”, though that term tends to be associated with Christian demons, these can originate from different religions & cultures. Unlike what TV and popular YouTubers would have you believe, these are exceptionally rare. You are much more likely to be dealing with a negative human entity then a “demon”.
